Sonoma Vihara Recycled Glass Tile

LEED certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. The LEED green building rating system is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.

The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) assumes administration of LEED certfication for all commercial and institutional projects registered under any LEED Rating System.

The LEED rating system offers four certifications levels for new construction - Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum - that correspond to the number of credits accrued in five green design categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.

United Tile can help you accumulate points in the materials & resources category by providing tiles with recycled content, as well as local/regional materials. LEED documents, such as checklists and reference guides are available at the U.S.Green Building Council's LEED website (www.usgbc.org). Standards are now available or in development for the following project types:

  • New Construction and Major Renovations
  • Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance
  • Commercial Interiors
  • Core and Shell
  • Schools
  • Retail
  • Healthcare
  • Homes
  • Neighborhood Development
