Showroom Design Consultant

United Tile has a part-time Showroom Design Consultant opening in our Portland location, and is seeking a candidate that does not settle for second best. Multi-tasking, design, and customer service skills are paramount to success in this position, and we are looking for individuals who are committed to offering the highest level of service to every client that we serve.


Specific job functions include the following:
* Work with customers, contractors and vendors in planning and product selection utilizing the wholesale distribution model, often with multiple customers at a time
* Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions
* Work with design staff and marketing department to keep our products presented and merchandised in a creative, customer friendly system through various sampling and display efforts
* Work with design staff to continually improve showroom sample department by ordering replacement material and organizing delivered sample material
* Developing knowledgeable relationships with customers
* Work with sales and marketing team to promote our showroom and resources for, and with, our trade customers
* Providing a pleasant, calm, and professional atmosphere amidst several simultaneous tasks

* Proven creativity in previous design roles
* Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships

Education:
* Degree in Interior Design
* Experience can be substituted for education


Experience:
* At least one year of related experience
* Education can be substituted for experience


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design: While we service the design community, most of our customers are homeowners looking for guidance on their personal projects. The ability to read their needs, ascertain their likes and dislikes, and provide options that fit their personal tastes, budgets, and time constraints is critical to succeed in this position. Interacting with them warmly and sincerely, following up when promised, and going above-and-beyond their expectations is expected in all interactions.

Walk-In Customers: Most of our customers fall under this category. We can receive up to 70 walk-in customers in a single day. The ability to smoothly juggle multiple customers at one time, each with a variety of needs, is extremely important. We do offer appointments for customers needing more one-on-one attention. These are scheduled with the knowledge of your showroom manager, to ensure we always have proper coverage on the floor.

Line Maintenance: Each of our designers are assigned specific lines to maintain. This includes ordering, receiving, labeling and filing samples, maintaining displays in the showroom, ensuring printed price lists are up to date, and being our on-site knowledge base for your lines.


Work Schedule:
While our showrooms are open Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, and Saturdays 10am-3pm, this position is specific to the below hours:
Monday, Thursday, Friday 12:30pm-5pm
Saturday 10am-3pm
