While the use of tile is expanding dramatically in the U.S., we still lag far behind many European countries that average 5-7 times our per capita consumption.  Small wonder that so many innovative installation aids and methods have been developed by the German company, Schluter Systems.  Today, the Schluter name is widely recognized by American contractors, who rely on their diverse and creative products to ensure top quality installations.

Here are a few of Schluters popular products:

schluter-schiene.jpgSchluter SCHIENE and RENO
Ceramic tile and natural stone edges can be brittle and if exposed, prone to cracking or chipping.  SCHIENE and RENO protect these edges and create a clean transition to adjacent flooring materials.

schluter-rondec.jpgSchluter RONDEC and JOLLY
Surface trim pieces are not always available for outside corners and edges.  The rounded (RONDEC) or straight edge (JOLLY) profiles provide edge protection for walls and countertops and are available in a full range of colors and finishes.

Stair nosings can improve safety on tiled stairways by providing a slip-resistant wear surface and increased visual acuity.

Most of today's subfloors expand and contract at a different rate than a ceramic tile or stone surface covering.  Directly bonded tile or marble to an unstable substrate leads to failure.  DITRA solves this problem by uncoupling the tile surface from the subfloor, allowing independent movement.
